5 Things You Can’t Fail to Include In Your Resume

Writing a resume always seems easy. But it really isn’t. With the right strategy, arrangement, and formatting it could be. But have you ever wondered why most people lose opportunities because the resume they so thought was perfect?

It is because they focused so much on their qualifications that they forgot about the other items.

Focusing on your qualifications, your education history and your work experience is not a bad idea. It is actually the main purpose of the resume. But you can’t forget other details no matter how small they are.

What a Resume Covers

A resume is a document created or prepared that contains your education history, work experience and expertise in your field or profession as well as skills.

While applying for a job, you also attach your resume in your application. Sometimes it is all they need. It is made with the hope of getting you a job or a new employment.

It is designed to highlight your strength in a particular industry and demonstrate why you should get hired.

Whenever you write a resume, make sure you include all your certificates, experiences, education, certifications and awards if any.

Don’t Commit These Sins

Here are some of the common mistakes that you can’t afford to make if you want to come up with a compelling resume;

  • Grammatical errors

Typos and other grammatical errors are a complete turn off. It is hard to read texts full of spelling mistakes and this is no different for recruiters.

  • Fluff and long texts

Long texts might make your resume hard to read and unpleasant. Make use of white spaces, bullets and bold whenever necessary to break your text.

  • Irrelevant information

Putting a lot of information in your resume about you will do you good. But putting a lot of irrelevant information will do you more harm than good.

Things You Can’t Fail to Include in Your Resume

While you are always so keen to put all your experience and other details on your resume, here are some of the things that you don’t put much thought into;

  • Contact information

The first thing you should do is to put all your contact details. This includes your full names, Email addresses, and phone numbers.

You probably cannot forget to write this but did you know that putting your social media handle could also be helpful?

Just make sure that whatever social platform you put is relevant to your profession. You might consider including your LinkedIn and Twitter, but only if you only tweet and post about your profession.

However, this does not mean that you can add all your personal details like birthday and marital status, or include links to your Facebook account where you onLy post your friends and family.

  • Additional experience

Except for the official experience, if you have any additional experience, make sure to always include the additional experience section in your resume. This could be some volunteer work you did or any other activities related to your profession.

  • Proof of your work

This could include an award you got, certification, or a successful project you did. You can also use live links for this.

Remember you can also always seek help from a professional resume writing service if need be.
